Twitter for iPhone now equipped for multitasking in iOS 4

Twitter for iPhone now equipped for multitasking in iOS 4

Twitter's official iPhone app -- formerly known as Tweetie -- has updated to support multitasking in iOS 4. That makes it one of the first apps to enable the new fast app switching feature, which allows you to jump between Twitter and other multitasking-enabled apps without having to return to the home screen. Twitter has beaten Facebook and others to the punch on this feature, which is a testament to the work of Loren Brichter, the developer of Tweetie who now works on Twitter for iPhone.

Along with fast task switching, the Twitter app now uses OAuth, according to the changelog. That means any third-party apps you use through Twitter -- for posting photos, for example -- are now more secure. The app has also been updated to look good on the upcoming iPhone 4 and its shiny new Retina display.
