Since the release of iPhone 3.1.3 and the announcement of iOS 4, many of iPhone users have raised the following questions:
Is there any unlock solution for iPhone OS 3.1.3? Is it unlockable?
How can I unlock the baseband 05.12.01?
When will the unlock solution for iPhone OS 3.1.3 be available?
Will the upcoming iOS 4 with baseband 05.13.04 be unlockable?
First, at the time I write this post, there is still no solution for iPhone OS 3.1.3 with baseband 05.12.01. But the good news is that iPhone Dev team will release a tool to unlock such baseband version. And, it is expected to release later this month.
In a recent tweet from a core member of iPhone Dev team, it has been confirmed that iOS 4 is also unlockable. Hopefully, you can use the same unlock solution to unlock iPhone 4.
The iOS 4, the latest version of iPhone OS, is set to be released today (i.e. June 21). However, if you’re using jailbroken iPhone, please do not rush for the upgrade. Stick with your existing OS version and wait till iPhone Dev team officially releases the jailbreak & unlock solution.
