Today, Apple releases iTunes 10.0.1 to the public. It’s just a minor update and adds a Ping sidebar that allows you to keep track of the activities from the people you follow. The updated version of iTunes also makes it easier to share your favorite music with your friends on Ping. You can now Like or Post about music right from your iTunes library.

According to the release note from Apple, other than the Ping sidebar, iTunes 10.0.1 also comes with a number of bug fixes including:

  • Addresses an issue where the picture quality of a video changes depending on whether the on-screen controls are visible.
  • Resolves an issue where iTunes may unexpectedly quit while interacting with album artwork viewed in a separate window.
  • Fixes a problem that affects the performance of some third-party visualizers.
  • Addresses an issue where the iTunes library and playlists appear empty.
  • Resolves an issue that created an incompatibility with some third-party shared libraries.

iTunes 10.0.1 is Jailbreak Safe

For those using jailbroken iPhone, your primary concern is whether this update is compatible with jailbroken iPhone. From what I tested, iTunes 10.0.1 works with jailbroken iPhone. It won’t break your jailbreak iPhone and you can sync it with iTunes without any issues.

To upgrade to the latest version of iTunes, you can go to this direct link to download it or just upgrade it via software update.
