Since the release of iOS 4.1, I got tons of emails about how we can unlock iPhone 3GS/3G running on iOS 4.1. Presently there is no solution for that. If you have accidentally upgraded to iOS 4.1 and lose the unlock, here is a good news from the iPhone Dev team. As @musclenerd, a key member of the team, mentioned on Twitter that they’ve figured out the unlock solution:
@nadimnakade we have an unlock for that, but gotta wait til next cat&mouse from Apple (official 4.2)
And the software unlocking solution will be available once Apple releases iOS 4.2, which is expected to debut later this month.
simplysaru: @MuscleNerd thanks.. how long would the wait be for 4.2 any approximate time
MuscleNerd: @simplysaru if you’re on 3G or 3GS, just a day or 2 at most after 4.2 is public (just enough time to verify stuff)
From what we know, the upcoming unlock solution will just work for iPhone 3G and 3GS.
For iPhone 4 users running iOS 4.1 (with baseband 02.10.04), you’ll still need to wait for a while until the team figures out the solution.
As always, stay tuned. I’ll keep you posted when the unlock solution is released publicly.
Is it a big news for you?
