After the debut of JailbreakMe, iPhone Dev team has released an updated version of ultrasn0w to unlock iPhone 4.

With ultrasn0w, you can free your iPhone to use with any carrier. The latest version of ultrasn0w supports carrier unlock for iPhone 4 with baseband 01.59.00, as well as, 3G and 3GS riding on baseband 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01 and 05.13.04.

To use ultrasn0w with iPhone 4, you need to first jailbreak the iPhone with JailbreakMe. You can refer to the earlier post about the jailbreak procedures.

If you have jailbroken your iPhone 4, simply follow these instructions to unlock it.

1. Launch cydia

2. Tap “Search” and type in “ultrasn0w” to search for Ultrasn0w application.

3. Once found, tap on “ultrasn0w”. Next, tap “Install” to install it.

Once the installation completes, reboot your iPhone. That’s it! Now, your iPhone is unlocked and you are free to choose other carriers.

In case you can’t find the package…

Just in case that you can’t find ultrasn0w in step 2, you can add the required source using these procedures:

1. In cydia, tap “Manage” and select “Sources”.

2. Tap “Edit” button and then tap “Add” button.

3. Type in “http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com” for the cydia/apt URL and tap “Add Source”. Cydia will then verify the URL and register the repository URL. When complete, tap “Return to Cydia” to continue.

4. You’ll find the new URL registered. Tap “Done”. Now, you should be able to find the ultrasn0w package.
