Soon the official Playboy iPad App will be revealed but certain other elements won’t be. What we’re trying to say is that in order to follow Apple’s very strict anti-obscenity rules Playboy has agreed to keep their app for the iPad tablet device entirely non-nude and tasteful.
With no nudity allowed Playboy may just have to get a little creative and offer other features for their iPad application to keep their loyal customers interested. This could become a challenge since fans of the highly popular magazine are so accustomed to certain types of content and standards. It’s almost like having a canoe with no paddles, still having some purpose but rather pointless and not as practical.
Playboy will have to switch gears a bit and think outside the box on this one if they want to retain iPad app downloads, there’s no question there. They have overcome several changes in the industry as well as economy over the years and are still around though so obviously they have proven they are the type of company that is more than capable of adapting.
The Playmate of the Month will be restricted to a head and shoulders photo since Apple has no tolerence whatsoever for nudity in any iPad apps that are developed. Hey, the only reason people pay any attention to Playboy’s iconic magazine is for the articles anyhow right? Sorry, just had to toss a tiny bit of sarcasm in there.
Nonetheless it will be rather interesting to see what the staff over at Playboy intends to do to make their non-nude iPad app both interactive and something that will maintain viewers. Rumor has it that a 30 second interview video clip will be included in each issue but not much else at this point. In the meantime you can download an existing version of Playboy for the iPhone and iPod Touch.
