As uncovered by 9to5Mac, Apple has been working on a new gesture-based lock screen for iOS devices. Similar to that on Google’s Android phone, the lock screen displays nine dots. You’re allowed to set any screen lock pattern by connecting the dots and that pattern serves as the password. To unlock the screen, you just need to redraw the pattern.
Presently, you can only lock your iPhone with a 4-digit passcode or a password. The gesture-based lock screen, in my point of view, is much cooler.
9to5Mac mentioned the revamped version of lock screen is now only used internally in the employee ‘Apple Connect’ application for iOS devices. There is no words about when this feature will be rolled out to the public.
Can’t wait for Apple to bring you this feature? If you’re using jailbroken iPhone (with iOS version 3.1.2 or lower), you can check out AndroidLock. It’s a great hack that lets you use the gesture-based lock screen on iPhone.
What do you think about the Android-like lock screen? Do you like it?
