It is a known fact that when most of the people encounter problems with their everyday use of the ipad, they resolve to upgrading or downgrading their firmware as a way to eliminate and solve their problems. There are many problems however that cannot be solved or fixed by upgrading or downgrading ipad firm ware. Though the two tasks appear to be similar, they differ from one another, and this is not in reference to upgrade or downgrade.

The legality or warranty of your ipad does not in most cases cover any software related downgrades that you might perform to solve any problem. Apple made this very clear prior to the first ipad been sold, and to further reduce the number of complaints from customers, apple company have introduced a more better way to load ipad firmware without necessarily having to do it manually, hence making it easier and eliminate any type of errors that might void your warranty.

It is not clear if apple knew about the loop hole of installing ipad firmware in a more different way than apple previously anticipated. Anyone who knows anything about jail breaking an ipad will tell about simple steps you have to do to be able to flash either the old or new firm ware. The matter of flashing your ipad or downgrading your ipad requires three simple principles, and if you are not familiar with either one of them its best you let someone with experience do the task for you.

The following method is a simple summary of what it required and how to downgrade your ipad firmware to earlier versions. The main reason why it’s not easy to downgrade ‘legally’ according to Apple Company is that they stop signing previous made versions and therefore making it hard for consumers to downgrade at will.

Software Required For the Downgrade
• Redsnow or Ireb
• Itunes
• Any old IOS [ipsw] that you want to downgrade with
• USB cable to connect your device to your pc/mac
• TunyUmbrella

Steps
• The first and most important thing to do first is to save your SHSH Blobs using tunyumbrella. The reason for this is that you can always unpick your ipad using the saved SHSH blobs should anything go wrong
• Once this is done use redsnow and put your ipad in DFU mode, not recovery mode.
1. Tip-if you are having problems with this part, follow the instructions on redsnow or ireb to put your device in DFU mode
• Open Itunes and [PRESS] the [SHIFT BUTTON] and at the same time use your mouse point to clink on the radio button that says upgrade firmware on itunes, point to your saved ipsw and click upgrade.
The whole process will take a couple of minutes from start to finish and once done you will have a downgraded ipad
