Savvy iPhone AppHoliday season is around the corner and as usual, it’s a busy shopping time for most people in real and digital worlds. Apple App Store sales tend to peak during the holiday season every year and I’d expect 2011 to be no different. Of course, every shopper wants to get the best possible deals and nobody wants to overspend on an app. So, how do you ensure that you get the best price for an app? How do you get a refund if you purchased an app at full price and it’s now discounted? I came across the Savvy.com iPhone app which claims to “eliminate the common problem of post-purchase price reductions once and for all.”

The idea behind Savvy.com is simple – it’s a daunting task for people to keep track of their app purchases so there needs to be an app which can take care of it. Savvy keeps track of app price reductions and notifies you so that you always end up buying it at the best possible price.

Savvy has a typical iPhone tabbed-UI look. It has five tabs – Home, My Buys, Deal Maker, Watch List & Account Information.

The Home tab shows you a list of best app deals from Savvy partner retailers. The ‘My Buys’ tab lists a history of all apps that you have purchased. The ‘Deal Maker’ is the USP of the Savvy iPhone app – it allows you to select a product and enter a price for it that you would be willing to pay. If the app price then falls below that amount, Savvy notifies you that the deal is available. The ‘Watch List’ tab lets you keep track of apps that you might want to purchase in future. You can add apps to your watch list by scanning in the bar code and Savvy does the rest to keep you informed on its price increases and reductions.

I hope Savvy soon expands its retailer partner network beyond the current 40 members. None the less, if you can use a free app to get discounts off paid apps, just go for it!
