The elusive white iPhone has its own charm. I have a white iPhone 3GS as well as a black iPhone 4. Though I love the new features offered by the iPhone 4, the white iPhone 3GS is my prized possession as it looks simply stunning. And I’m not the only one who believes so. Given a choice, most iPhone 4 owners would prefer to get a white colored device.
The white iPhone 4, which has been a matter of speculation and rumors for several months now, no longer appears to be a distant dream. The device has found its way to the online inventory listings of AT&T in the U.S., as well as Orange and Three in the U.K., thereby confirming that it’s a question of “when” and not “if” the white iPhone 4 will be launched.
A BGR report contains screenshots providing conclusive evidence that both the white iPhone 4 models – 16GB and 32GB capacities are likely to hit the AT&T stores this year. BestBuy looks almost certain to sell the white iPhone 4 as revealed in its internal listings as well. While there’s no official word on the white iPhone 4 launch date in the United States, Orange U.K. and Three have already started advertising the white iPhone 4 on their websites.
It’s worth noting that Apple originally planned to release the white iPhone 4 alongside the black one, but was forced to hold it back due to urgent production issues. Apple later announced that the white iPhone 4 is expected to be launched in the spring of 2011.
With iPhone 5 rumors heating up, I won’t be surprised if Apple is pushing hard to get the white iPhone 4 out of the blocks earlier than planned. Though the iPhone 4 demand is still quiet strong, a growing number of Apple loyalists have started holding off their plans till June in anticipation of the NFC-enabled iPhone 5. Another theory suggests that Apple wants to launch the Verizon iPhone and the iPhone 5 together so as to help maintain a level playing field between the GSM and CDMA variants.
Whatever be the case, the white iPhone 4 is surely a mouth-watering prospect. The countdown has begun!
