As you may know, Apple is trying to prevent people from jailbreaking the iPhone by breaking iBooks. If you’ve used Greenpois0n RC6 (or older version) to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad, you may not be able to open some of your iBooks purchased from iBook store and the iBooks app just shows you an error:

“There is a problem with the configuration of your iPhone. Please restore with iTunes and reinstall iBooks.”

Apple did not confirm this new measure against the jailbreak community. However, @comex has explained how Apple blocks your jailbroken device when using iBooks:

It seems that before opening a DRMed book, iBooks drops an improperly signed binary, tries to execute it, and if it works concludes that the device is jailbroken and refuses to open the book.

Of course, the measure does not prevent jailbreakers from jailbreaking their device and iPhone hackers have quickly developed a solution to resolve the issue.

On Friday, the Chronic team has released a new version of Greenpois0n (i.e. RC 6.1) to fix the iBooks issue. If you’re experiencing problems opening your iBooks after Greenpois0n jailbreak, try to download RC 6.1 and jailbreak your device again.

Other than handling the iBooks issue, Greenpois0n RC 6.1 also fixes the WiFi problem on Apple TV (2G).

Note: As an alternative, you can also use PwnageTool to jailbreak your iPhone and the tool also fixes the iBooks issue.
