LogMeIn ReviewI’ve been a user of LogMeIn free version for PC for many years. It’s been amazingly helpful at various times so I was very pleased to see them bring out a version for the iPad.

What is LogMeIn?

LogMeIn for iPad is a remote access application that allows you to link any two computers or devices together, and use one to access the other. For example, I can link my iPad to my main home PC simply by installing LogMeIn on both, and then when I’m out and about, I just start LogMeIn on my iPad, enter my password, choose my main PC, and I can access anything on that PC that I need, and even move files to my iPad.

Anything that you can do while sitting in front of your PC can be done via LogMeIn. You can check your emails, surf the web, upload files, download files, play games, use Photoshop, play music or movies… Anything!

One of the best features of Log Me In that I use it for is for giving family members remote IT support! I install it on my mother’s laptop, then if she needs some help I can just log in and generally sort her problem remotely. As she lives hundreds of miles away, this has saved a lot of money in her having to take the laptop to repairers!

Do you get frustrated with your iPad not being able to play Flash? I use LogMeIn to get around this – just remote in to your PC, open your browser, and use any Flash site you like!

In what probably sounds like the ultimate laziness, I’ve even used my iPad from the bedroom to wake my computer downstairs and stream a movie upstairs. (You must enable Wake on LAN in the BIOS to be able to start your computer remotely.)

Using LogMeIn on your iPad is simple – just tap, drag and slide to perform various functions, and the slide-up onscreen keyboard when necessary. However, if you’re intending to use the iPad to remote in on various mouse-heavy programs like Photoshop then you may want to consider buying a bluetooth mouse to make your life a little easier.

LogMeIn is available from the App Store now.
