AnalyticsWhen Google Analytics was released in late 2005, it quickly became in demand more due to its accessible price tag of free than many users actually fully understanding its detailed statistics power.

What it did do for marketers like myself, who were eager to know the nuts and bolts of website traffic and how my campaigns affected it, was emancipate me from slaving through sever logs that only our webmaster could truly comprehend.

Therefore, if you suffer sleepless nights wondering how many visitors dropped by, from where, how many where new, how many repeat visitors, and even the type of web browser they were using, then Analytics Pro and Analytics HD for iPad and iPhone will hardly let you sleep any better.

On the contrary, you won’t catch a wink unless you can fight sneaking a peek at real time reports even in bed. Unlike Google Analytics itself, you will need to plunk down some hard-earned cash for these apps at the iTunes App Store at $6.99 each. Therefore, which one should you invest your $6.99 on?

First up, Analytics Pro from Blackburn Apps is logically laid out while still delivering a comprehensive, slick User Interface (UI) for Google Analytics (apparently Google didn’t optimize Analytics for mobile devices like they did Gmail and Search). You get a quick overview first of the 5 different reports concerning traffic, including visitors, referral sites, traffic sources, top website content, top countries/geography, and top operating system. Drilling down data like with the web app is a matter of touching the options you require more detail on. That you can use both landscape and horizontal orientation was a welcome feature. Furthermore, you can access multiple accounts. We found Analytics Pro even easier to use and understand than Google Analytics itself since it simplifies the UI for iPad and iPhone while delivering the same information.

Next up, Analytics HD from Inblosam (called Analytics App on iPhone) also presents website traffic data in an optimum and even speedier manner compared to the web-version. Again, all aforementioned data was covered. However, Analytics HD had insanely better charts in full-screen (eye candy for the statistically inclined), which is great for sharing at meetings. You can likewise access multiple accounts.
All in all, with both delivering practically the same content, which Google Analytic app is better depends on if you go for the razzle dazzle data presentation of Analytics HD or the to-the-point, no-frills delivery of Analytics Pro.

Personally, I purchased both – Analytics Pro [iTunes link] for when I am working by my lonesome pouring over stats and charts and Analytics HD [iTunes link] for when I’m presenting to clients and colleagues.
